The Three P’s of Evangelism

Hello there,

If you are an ardent reader of our blog, you’d realize that on this platform, we have dedicated a lot of attention to the obligation of Evangelism given to every Christian by Christ. It is important that we evangelise as Jesus wants it to be done. We have glimpsed the mind of God concerning this through His grace and we’ll never relent in spreading this message. Consequently, that’s why we are particular about the command of Evangelism and building up of believers. We pray that you catch a glimpse of God’s mind concerning evangelism in a deeper way as you read this.

This particular topic will be divided into three series based on the three P’s of evangelism. They are: Preach

Pray

Provide.

These are the three P’s of evangelism and it is God’s will that every Christian participates through one of these ways so as to achieve His will on earth (that all men may be saved). Today we would discuss the first “P” which is preaching the gospel.

Preaching the gospel is a responsibility that every Christian must continually fulfil. It is not until you carry a megaphone and start preaching all across your area that you can achieve this. You can preach the gospel to the disparate individuals you meet everyday. You can tell them about the love of Christ. You can steer every conversation with unbelievers to the message of Christ. Let them know how much God loves them, let them hear you recount of how your life has been a manifestation of God’s love. Apart from literally telling people about Jesus, you can preach about Jesus through your lifestyle. Let people observe your life and say “I want to believe in what that man believes in”. A popular saying goes thus “People don’t read the Bible again, what they read is your life”.

Well, I’d say it’s a shame that people don’t read the Bible anymore, but what gives me consolation is that you have the opportunity to be made a living Bible. If people don’t read the Bible, then they will observe your life and see clearly, the manifestation and image of Christ. They will open the pages of your life and observe if it tallies with that of Christ. If they see a direct correlation in your life with the undeniable life of God, they will be converted through your way of life.

“1 Peter 2:12 (NIV) – Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”

The Bible recorded that the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch and it was because of their lifestyles, that was why that name was appended to their person.

“Acts 11:26 (KJV) And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.”

The name Christians is said to mean “Small Christs”. The disciples after spending just one year in Antioch preaching and spreading the gospel to many people, the people around them observed their day to day behaviors, actions and reactions. They realized that these individuals were different from every other person. They saw that their life was exactly like Christ’s and that was where the name “Small Christs” was generated.

Ultimately, it is not enough to preach and evangelise to people, you have to live the life that directly corresponds to what you are proclaiming. It was Ravi Zacharias, the famous Christian Apologist that said “Faith without proclamation and performance is too abstract”. I totally agree with this. You cannot say you believe in something without proclaiming and performing it. Faith without a corresponding performance of you beliefs isn’t in any way practical. We have to live the life we proclaim. Our lives must stand out revealing the gospel of our faith. God is counting on us to preach the gospel. He has given us the power Acts 1:8 as he gave it unto Jesus when He was starting out in ministry. Acts 10:38, and God wants us to do as Christ did, even more. He wants us to preach the gospel and profess His amazing love to the lost. Christ has decorated us with armaments to take over the world for Him and leave the kingdom of the devil screaming in emptiness. Let’s convert the souls heading for hell, let’s divert the course of their lives towards the Kingdom of light, the Kingdom of Jesus. Let love be our weapon, let evangelism be our day to day responsibility.

Glad you could join us today. Later on this blog, we are going to have the opportunity to read about the other two “P”s of evangelism. Thank you and God bless you.

Share this with your family and friends. Let them be partakers of this blessing also.
