Welcome to another episode on The Gospel Exposition Blog. We hope that you are always being blessed by our posts. Kindly send to us if you have any comment, question or recommendation. God bless you.
Today, we want to treat the topic which says knowledge is power. This statement is a common statement which I am sure you would have come across in one way or the other. Yes, knowledge is power. Knowledge is the principal thing. By knowledge, you gain understanding and wisdom which are the strength you will need in life. Knowledge gives you power.
2 Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge”
It is a very bad thing to live without knowledge. Also, it is foolishness to take a step or do something without the knowledge of such.
“Ignorant zeal is worthless; haste makes waste. Proverbs 19:2 (MSG)”
“Enthusiasm without knowledge is not good; impatience will get you into trouble. Proverbs 19:2 (GNB)”
One may have the zeal for something, one may be very enthusiastic towards a course, but it is foolish not to have the knowledge of that thing before taking action. Action without knowledge is ignorant zeal, it can lead one into trouble. Knowledge is fundamental and important if one is to live well. People without basic knowledge deprive themselves basic benefits of life.
In the same vein, the Christian race is meant to be ran with knowledge. Accurate knowledge of who you are in Christ and His provisions for you would make you live and reign effortlessly on earth and enable you to extend His Grace to all and sundry. Your knowledge about God and His love is your power over the devil and his schemes. In the book of Genesis, the only thing the devil did was to tamper with and manipulate Eve’s (and Adam’s) knowledge. Once he realizes a believer is not acknowledging the authority he has, he exercises unwarranted dominion. This same knowledge is your ability (power) and enablement to reach the unsaved.
I would love to divide this teaching into two based on the above truth.
1. Believers’ knowledge is their power over the Devil.
Most believers still have not known who they are in Christ. This is as a result of lack of adequate teachings in the body of Christ. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge” Hosea 4:6. As a result of their lack of knowledge, they live like slaves, even though they are sons. Yet, some are not without knowledge, but they refuse to walk in knowledge. The whole of the Christian walk is a journey of knowledge in the finished work of Christ. Believers should always pray to know more. The more the knowledge of your inheritance and status in Christ Jesus you have, the less the dominion of the devil and his cohorts over your life. To know and understand your reality in Christ Jesus, read the article “BELIEVERS RIGHTS AND AUTHORITY IN CHRIST”, on this blog.
Knowledge of one’s reality should never be what is found wanted in the life of a believer. The reason is that life’s challenges will always present themselves strong enough to make you feel inferior or less than who you are in Christ. Once you are successfully deceived, you will be easily deprived of your sound mind, and great loss follows. You are a child of God and not otherwise. Be filled with this knowledge. Think Jesus alone. The bible says, “as He is, so are we in this world”, 1 John 4:17. This means that your authority as a believer is far above the devil and his cohorts. Walk in this consciousness today and take charge of your life. Do not lose your identity and you will reign effortlessly in life. When the devil comes with his tricks, you just smile, rest in Christ’s victory, and say “It is written…”. It is all about the knowledge of your reality in Christ. Declare it.
2. Knowledge (and understanding) makes you a minister
When you come to the knowledge of truth and have really understood it, you will know that Christ has made you a minister and you will fulfil ministry.
“2 Corinthians 3 (NKJV)
6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
“Acts 4 (NKJV)
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”
“1 Corinthians 9 (NKJV)
16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!”
See, any believer who is not in one way or the other making the truth of the gospel known is irresponsible. In other words, they are not doing as they ought to do. It is sheer selfishness on their part whether they know (accept) it or not. God’s desire is that every soul should come to the knowledge of the truth which you now have. The gospel came to you through a vessel (man), then it is right for you to extend the love to everyone around you. That you have the knowledge of the gospel is a strength (the power) to reach the unsaved. The strength is not your charisma or ability to speak good English, it is not how to sweet talk. It is all about filling and covering the earth with the knowledge of Christ. “Do the work of an evangelist (preach the good news), fulfil your ministry. 2 Tim. 4:5” This is the ministry of every believer. Live fulfilled. Extend love, extend God’s grace. For more in-depth knowledge about why a believer should evangelize, read the article “FIVE REASONS WHY EVANGELISM IS IMPORTANT FOR EVERY CHRISTIAN”, on this blog.
In conclusion, to reign in life, you will have to acknowledge the position you now are in Christ and the things you have in Him. This reality and truth will also give you, by the help of the Spirit of God, the enablement to preach the gospel of Christ.
We are sure that you have been blessed today. Meet us next week for another episode and don’t forget to share with family and friends. God bless you.
