Hello brethren,

Welcome. Today, on The Gospel Exposition Blog, we want to give exegesis of how a man is saved, according to the scriptures. We pray that your eyes are flooded with light unto understanding in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The word salvation is from the Greek word “sōtēria” which means to rescue, deliver, protect, heal, save or make whole. Salvation is God’s manifestation of everlasting love and mercy towards His creation. Through salvation, God’s love, which surpasses understanding, was made known in the purest form. God, who manifested as Christ, redeemed mankind and translated them from the kingdom and dominion of darkness into light. This He did when man did not deserve it.

“Romans 5

6 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

What manner of love God Father has given unto us?! While we were still without strength, Christ died for us. It is important to note that Christ didn’t die for Christians alone. No, He died for all. The only difference now is that we ( believers ) have accepted ( received ) the gift of salvation and thus are saved. In other words, the provision for salvation was ( and is ) made available for all. However, the receipt of this free gift is up to every individual. As many as received Him will enjoy this salvation.

Salvation is a free gift in that Christ paid it all. He only wants everyone to accept the gift and be free from the bondage of sin.

When you ask some believers: Are you saved? Most of them will give the answer, “only God knows” or “we can only tell at the judgment day” or “Yes, but I don’t know when”. Many believers live their lives not sure of their salvation and for that reason, they work hard ( as though works would save them ) to be among the saved at the judgment day.

A man is saved by believing the facts of the gospel, which are the facts of Jesus’ birth, earthly ministry, death, resurrection, ascension and second coming.

One that would be saved must believe that Christ is born of the Spirit of God through a vessel ( Mary ) and not by flesh and blood.

“Luke 1
30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
He must believe the gospel.
1 Corinthians 15
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
5 and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve”

He must know and believe that Christ lives forever and is coming back.

“Revelations 1
7 Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.
8 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

When a man hears these truths and confesses Christ, he is saved at that very moment.

“Roman 10
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved”
We are saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus. If you have heard, believed and confessed these facts of the gospel, then you are saved. That is how a man is saved. If you have not believed these facts, believe and put your confidence in Christ and become saved forever in Him.”

“Acts 16
30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

“Acts 2
40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.”

That’s how a man is saved. Gladly receive the good news, believe in Christ and confess Him as your Lord, and He will be the ruler of your life. Salvation is faith in Christ alone for the remission of sins. Acts 26:18. It is not in the confession of your past sins or answering of alter calls. These, among many others, are erroneously believed to be the criteria for salvation. Salvation has nothing to do with man, it is all of God. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ. A man is saved the moment he believes the gospel. Jesus paid it all. Rejoice in Him. Hallelujah!

We are sure that you are blessed by this truth. Share the good news with family and friends. God bless you.
