Hello brethren,
Welcome to another episode on The Gospel Exposition Blog. Today, our topic is the believers source of strength.

“Acts 1 (NLT)
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

In our High school days, we learnt that the Sun the is the principal source of energy. It is known that every other source of energy stems from the principal source which is the sun. Similarly, the Holy Spirit is the believer’s unlimited source of strength. Jesus said “ you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.” This tells us that humans are powerless and without strength. It is the Spirit of God on our inside that supplies strength which manifest on the outside. The Holy Spirit is a promise of the Father to all believers. It is not a Spirit for some, it is for all. It is the driving force behind every spiritual giants you see. Without Him, no man can fulfil the kingdom mandate on earth.
The Bible tells us that by strength shall no man prevail. That’s very true. Human strength fails. It is the strength whose source is God that can last forever. A genuine source never dries up. Never. Whatever circumstance it goes through, there will always be a replenishing. We live in a world that always deplete our strength but as believers we renew our strength from an unending and a very stable source – the Holy Spirit.

As believers, we are endued with power from on high. We already have the power. What is needed is the understanding of this and drawing strength from the One who dwells in us.

The Spirit came so that you can be whole, perfect and complete – Strengthened in all, strengthened for all.

The first thing to know is that the Spirit was a promise of the father and when we received it, it established our faith. That is, it proved that Christ is Lord, He said it and He did it. What did He say, and how did He bring it to pass?

“John 14
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. 18 No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you.”

Also, in our introductory text, Jesus made mention of the Holy Spirit which would come on the believers with the accompanied power that will be at work in us. Praise the Lord our God reigns forever. We now have the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is our strength for spiritual battle. The nature of the believers fight isn’t physical. It isn’t with spears, blades, guns and other ammunitions. Nay. Our weapons are not carnal but mighty through God. Our weapon is from God and mighty. That might (strength) is the Holy Spirit, a gift to us. The gift in us. So, when life’s battle comes, we, by the help of the Holy Spirit, overcome through prayer and the word of God in us.

The Holy Spirit is a Person, it is God Himself in us. It is a medium. This medium brings or conveys information or revelation from the spiritual realm to the physical. Also, there’s a connection from the physical to the spiritual realm via the Holy Spirit. What a precious gift. What a spiritual strength!

Also, it’s imperative to know the task we are created for. We should come to the understanding of the reason why we are saved. Because, the Holy Spirit was given to perform this task.

“Matthew 28
18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

A new man in Christ is created anew for this purpose. If you don’t know this yet, you should know it now. The Holy Spirit, our divine strength, wants to work in us and through us to the saving of lost and strayed or straying souls. How yielding are you? Have a sober reflection on how you’ve failed in this assignment and rise on your feet for the task. It is never too late.
Are you reading this at the moment and you don’t know much about the Holy Spirit? Or do you desire to have this spirit whose source is God? The first thing to do is to receive the life of the Spirit’s source. This spirit is God’s and you will have the Spirit only when you receive His (God’s ) life through His Son, Jesus. Therefore, you have to be born again. This you will do by a genuine repentance, that is, a change of mind (heart) and ways and you will confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. When you do this, then you are fit to receive the Holy Spirit. Now, say this prayer,

“ Jesus Christ, the Son of God, I acknowledge you today, and I confess you as my Lord and Saviour. I believe with all my heart that you died and rose from the dead by the power of God so that I might live. Today, I receive you into my life. I receive eternal life.” Amen.

The Holy Spirit is one, and there are many more. Join a Bible believing church and desire to be established in the knowledge of God in Christ.

We hope this blessed you. Join us again next week and don’t forget to share this with friends and family. Thank you and God bless you.
